Afrihost has slashed the prices of its business broadband uncapped digital subscriber line (DSL) products by between 30% and 50% following the recent reduction in the fees Telkom charges Internet service providers for access to its “last-mile” network.
However, the cuts are in excess of the recent Telkom price reduction of 30%. The service provider is cutting its 4, 6, 8 and 10Mbit/s business DSL prices by 50%. The 4Mbit/s product has been reduced in price from R1 997/month to R997/month. The 10Mbit/s option will in future cost R2 497, from R4 997 previously.
It’s 1Mbit/s plan is being reduced to R697/month from R997, a cut of 30%. A the low end, the 384kbit/s product is now R297/month, from R497 before. A 512kbit/s package now fetches R397, from R697 previously.
Unlike consumer uncapped accounts, the business products offer prioritised traffic to customers during business hours. The accounts are unshaped and unmetered.
Afrihost director Greg Payne says the service provider will announce its new consumer uncapped pricing later this week. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
