JSE-listed technology group Business Connexion (BCX) has launched the Benjamin Mophatlane Foundation, in honour of its late CEO, to provide technology-orientated educational opportunities and sponsorships to previously disadvantaged youngsters.
The foundation is being launched five months after the untimely passing of Mophatlane, who co-founded what was then known as Business Connection with his twin brother Isaac. Business Connection subsequently merged with Seattle Solutions in 2001, with Benjamin serving as MD until the company merged with Comparex Africa in 2004 and was renamed Business Connexion.
The Benjamin Mophatlane Foundation was launched by BCX chairman Tony Ruiters at a dinner event held on Wednesday evening ahead of the inaugural MyWorld of Tomorrow Expo in Sandton.
Business Connexion is donating R2m to the foundation. Ruiters said the foundation reflect the late Mophatlane’s passion for education and the upliftment of communities through technology. — © 2014 NewsCentral Media
