Cell C has taken the wraps off its long-expected new data pricing, replacing the promotional offers that have been in the market since the company launched its third-generation mobile network a little over a year ago. The new tariffs take effect on 1 November.
The company says it is expanding the selection of prepaid products. Customers will also be able to choose options that either include or exclude a modem or router.
For customers that are light Internet users, Cell C is introducing a new 1GB/month product (12GB over a year) package, which will be available for R1 999 once-off including a modem capable of download speeds up to 7,2Mbit/s. For those that already have a device, 1GB/month over a year will cost R1 499 once-off.
There’s also a 2GB/month package (24GB over a year), which will cost R2 999 once-off with a modem capable of download speeds of up to 21,6Mbit/s included, or R1 999 without a device.
Next up is a 5GB /month package (60GB over a year), which will cost R5 999 once-off with a Cell C MyZone router, or R4 499 without a device.
Cell C’s out-of-bundle rate of 39c/MB will apply to all these products.
On the contract side, the operator is promising a wider range of products, all on 24-month subscriber agreements.
The first product offers 500MB/month for R129/month and comes standard with a modem capable of download speeds of up to 7,2Mbit/s. A 1GB /month package will cost R199 /month and comes standard with a 7,2Mbit/s modem and a Wi-Fi router accessory. A 2GB/month option will cost R299 and comes standard with a 21,6Mbit/s modem and a Wi-Fi router accessory.
For heavier Internet users, there’s a 5GB/month plan that will cost R599. This comes with a MyZone router, which allows users to simultaneously connect up to five devices to the Internet. Packages of 10GB/month and 20GB /month now cost R999 and R1 999 a month respectively. These two packages will include a Cell C 21,6Mbit/s E586 router allowing customers to connect up to 10 devices simultaneously. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
