Government spokesman Jimmy Manyi on Thursday accused someone of “cashing in on my good name” by pretending to be him on the Twitter network.
Manyi told journalists in Pretoria and Cape Town he was indeed registered on Twitter, but he had never “tweeted even once”. The tweets on Twitter under his name had been posted by “someone purporting to be Jimmy Manyi”.
“Someone is cashing in on my good name. It is not the genuine Jimmy Manyi,” he said. “I don’t know who’s this person. I haven’t been seeing it, but I’m told it’s not good. I’m told that somebody’s really, really, really dragging my name in the mud in that Twitter business. [But] I don’t know who it is.
“But at least, I can tell you … it’s not me. So somebody there has got a vested interest to rubbish my name,” Manyi said. — Sapa
