Well-known ICT and advertising industry executive Justin Spratt will join fast-growing Internet ride-hailing service Uber’s business development team on 1 September, TechCentral has learnt.
Spratt joins Uber from integrated digital marketing agency Quirk Group, where he is chief growth officer.
In his new role at Uber, Spratt will head up business development for sub-Saharan Africa, based out of Johannesburg and reporting into Europe.
He told TechCentral on Tuesday that he will work closely with Uber’s GM for sub-Saharan Africa, Alon Lits, on business development initiatives on both the rider and driver sides of the equation.
A former GM at Internet Solutions, where he helped build new business lines in Wi-Fi and mobile, Spratt has worked at Quirk for the past six years in various senior-level positions.
He joined Quirk in 2010 as managing partner responsible for new business before being named as CEO of Quirk Agency and later CEO of Quirk Africa.
Most recently, Spratt, who has an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science, was Quirk Group’s chief growth officer (from June 2015), where he was responsible for, among other things, new business revenue growth across Quirk’s five offices — London, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Nairobi.
Quirk, which was founded by CEO Rob Stokes, was acquired by global advertising holding company WPP two years ago for an undisclosed sum. — (c) 2016 NewsCentral Media
