Google SA head Stephen Newton has resigned after less than a year in the job and will leave the organisation at the end of May, the company has announced.
Newton (pictured), an American national, is leaving to pursue opportunities in the SA market, according to Google SA spokesman Julie Taylor.
Google has begun the search for a new country manager. “We have candidates in the pipeline and we are certainly looking for more,” says Taylor.
Philadelphia-born Newton, who replaced founding Google country manager Stafford Masie, has worked at a number of high-tech companies, including online advertising company DoubleClick (later acquired by Google). — Duncan McLeod, TechCentral
