The Democratic Alliance has called on ANC chief whip Stone Sizani to suspend Dina Pule, the former communications minister, as an MP “pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations that she is threatening the safety of other MPs and parliamentary personnel”.
Should Pule, who was sacked from cabinet last month by president Jacob Zuma, not be suspended immediately, then the DA will push for her suspension at the next chief whips’ forum to be held of 15 August, said DA chief whip Watty Watson.
“According to media reports, Pule and her alleged boyfriend, Phosane Mngqibisa, are behind an elaborate assassination plot against parliamentary ethics committee chairman, Prof Ben Turok, and the registrar of members’ interests, Fazela Mahomed.
“These are serious allegations which must be investigated. Dina Pule should be suspended from parliament, and the portfolio committee of transport, until such an investigation is finalised.” — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media
